Mariachi Leon, the first mariachi group at IDEA Public Schools, was founded in 2017 at IDEA Pharr. Our mariachi group is made up of 17 dedicated students from grades 6 through 12, ages 11 to 18, all passionately keeping the rich tradition of mariachi music alive. Despite not being part of the official curriculum, we have persevered thanks to the support of our community, sharing our love for mariachi with new generations and representing our Hispanic heritage.

Our dream is to proudly perform in custom charro suits at upcoming competitions, allowing our students to fully embody the spirit of mariachi. This spring, Mariachi Leon has 3 major competitions. These events are an opportunity for our talented students to showcase their skills and celebrate our vibrant culture.

To make this dream a reality, we need your help. Funds raised will go directly towards competition fees and purchasing the charro suits essential for these events.
