This fundraiser is for Maria Ricobene Abete. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in early 2023. Since then, she has had a partial lung lobectomy, two years of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation treatments for her lungs, liver, and brain surgery. She is a fighter! These treatments cause extreme fatigue, nausea, long-term energy depletion, and anemia. This makes everyday life a real struggle. Maria has not been able to work except for short periods; reducing the household income substantially.

Many of you know Maria from the White Sox games as your server or the Chicago Bulls games. She loves being at work but is unable to do so. If you know anyone who has gone through cancer treatments, you understand the toll it takes on the person, family, friends, and finances. In the current economy, costs are out of control.
