Support Maria Johnson with Cancer

Donation protected
Maria Johnson started life as an ordinary child up until her teens when all of a sudden her life changed for the worst and she developed a large Tumor in her head and neck. (acidic cell carcinoma)

She went through several major surgeries to remove the cancer, Radiotherapy and had nerves taken from other areas of her body to replace feeling in her neck and cheek leaving her severely scarred for life down one side of her body. Even with all this going on she fought through it all and had been cleared of the cancer untill she recently hit 50yrs old.

Maria kept getting dizzy spells and repeatidly went to her GP to complain about them. He was not much help and diagnosed her ear canal from her previous surgery was very narrow and caused a build up of wax that was causing the problem. She had several appointments cancled by nurses saying there was nothing in her ear, untill Maria argued the pain was getting unbearable and to do something, when they finaly did they clearded the wax giving Maria some form of releif.
However the dizzy spells remained and finally she was sent to St georges hospital to have a CT scan, this was when she got the news the dreaded tumer was back and in exactly the same place as before.

Since this news she has been back and forth to the Marsden and St Georges Hospital for discussions on the next form of action which has taken over six months for them to act. St Georges refuses to operate because of where the tumor is, and the The Royal Marsden refuses chemo because they say it won't work with this type of cancer. The Royal Marsden are now pleading with St Georges to operate but we are still waiting for a definitive answer. In the meantime we are fighting with the consultants to refer Maria to overseas treatment or surgery but again it's a waiting game. We have also written to PALS to complain about the incompetence and misdirected information as well as the negligence the NHS service and system has given so far. We are also trying to claim compensation but we are not banking on it.

We thought we had a breakthrough when i stumbled across a treatment called The NHS Photon Beam Overseas Program, which would have been a life saver but unfortunately Maria's type of Tumor is not on the list and to top it off the NHS cannot offer this radiotherapy treatment for patients who have had it before.  So back to square one.

We have an appointment in Manchester to speak to a specialist in regards to this type of Tumor but he can only offer experimental drug research, so again it's a huge stab in the dark and a lengthy process with no guarantees.

Maria has slowly declined and become more and more fatigued. her voice has become very quiet and high pitched her mouth has dropped on one side and she is coughing and very uneasy and unstable when walking.

Instead they have only offered medication to deal with treating the symptoms from the cancer with no mention of a cure.

This means Maria will have to live with this for the rest of her life growing inside her head unless something is done NOW!

In the meantime she has a daughter aged 8 who passed out in hospital this week due to worry and not eating right because she is so worried about her mums illness.
And now Maria has to give up work and can no longer pick up or take her child to school as the jouney is too much for her.

The bills are mounting up with hospital visits and parking - petrol - food and its all getting too much to cope with even with the small amount of benefits and grants available to her.

We have very little help or support from our families with childcare due to distance as they live too far away.

She needs this help NOW!!

This money will take one massive financial burden from her so she can concentrate on getting the proper treatment needed to get better.

Please Help Maria by making a small donation NOW!!!!

It doesn't have to be a lot, it all adds up and helps.

Thank you!xxx
