On April 3rd, Maria was was struck by a hit-and-run driver while riding her scooter. The driver fled the scene, leaving Maria injured on the road with no way to pursue justice, the offender was never found. Maria was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and treated for her injuries. She lost her only mode of transportation, faced mounting medical bills, and was forced to take time away from work to recover, all through no fault of her own.
