My name is Lina, and I am writing on behalf of my dear friend Ana Margot Guardado from Los Angeles, who is currently facing an unexpected family emergency.
A few days ago, Margot's sister-in-law — who is Guatemalan — traveled with her husband, Ana’s father-in-law, to Guatemala to renew her U.S. residency at the embassy. Due to a bureaucratic issue in the legal process, an important document was omitted by their lawyer, which resulted in her residency renewal being denied. As a consequence, she is now required to remain in Guatemala for more than a year.
Her husband, who is wheelchair-dependent and requires ongoing medical care, stayed with her in Guatemala believing the trip would be brief. Unfortunately, without access to his U.S. medical aid and with most of their belongings and resources left behind in Los Angeles, they are now facing extremely high medical and living expenses in a country where healthcare support is limited and costly.
Margot is doing everything she can to support her family during this difficult time and is raising emergency funds to help cover essential living needs and medical care while they navigate this complex situation. You can read her full story — shared in Spanish, her most comfortable language — in the attached message.
Any support, sharing, or kindness extended during this moment means more than words can express. Thank you for taking the time to read and for holding this family in your thoughts.
