Hi, My name is Jess I am putting together a fundraiser for my mother Marge and my father Todd. My mom is a loving, caring and very kind person who has been the glue of not only our family but everyone who enters her life, from her job to her friends she's always been the go to person. And now its our turn to help hold her together!
On January 5th 2024 Marge was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes in her neck. Back in mid-November Marge was experiencing pains in her neck. She assumed she may have pulled a muscle while exercising when she felt a lump in her neck. On November 28th after getting imaging and blood work done the doctor scheduled a biopsy of her lymph nodes. December 8th 2023 we learned the the lump in her neck was in fact cancer but the doctors did not believe that is where her cancer originated. Over the next month Marge had CT and PET scans to try and figure out where the cancer started. Finally after the PET scan and even a surgery to remove one of the lymph nodes in her neck we learned it originated in her esophagus. Because the cancer spread to her lymph nodes in her neck it was determined that it was at stage 4. And from here things really started to move fast on February 7th Marge had surgery to get her port in for her ongoing chemo treatments to try and buy her as much time as possible.
Marge started chemo on February 12th and will continue that every two weeks which will last for 3 days each time as well as immunotherapy every 42 days. With this plan the doctors and her family and friends are hopeful that this will buy her more time with us, but because of the intense treatments, and not knowing what this time next year will look like for Marge she will be leaving her career of 35 plus years to focus on the time she has left to be with family and just enjoy as much of life as possible while undergoing treatment. Because of this I am starting this go fund me to help with ongoing medical bills, living costs and to help her and my dad. I will also be setting up a meal train to anyone who is interested in helping with meals.
I want to thank everyone over these last few months, the chemo care package, the meals that have already started, people offering to sit with her during chemo I can't tell you how much it means to my family to see everyone coming together to help my parents through this hard time.
