Support Margarita's Battle Against Brain Cancer

Donation protected
I am writing on behalf of one of my very best friends of 8yrs in hopes of getting her some relief, in a time of severe need. Margarita was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia back in 2020 – a pretty scary time for her and the entire world- with Covid! Thankfully, she underwent chemo/radiation and an intense but successful bone marrow transplant.

The first 500 days post-transplant are crucial to recovery and from a chance of relapse. Although the cancer was cleared, she developed chronic Graft-versus-Host disease, an autoimmune disease (her body was basically fighting her new donor cells that were transplanted to help her fight cancer). It's been a tremendously tough four years, learning to navigate life as a survivor who was still very much battling debilitating health issues, while still trying to live and maintain as a single mom.

Last month Margarita went into the ER for chronic neck and back pain. She was told prior it was all only due to a herniated disk. However, she had a feeling it was something much worse. After 48hours in the ER and much persistence, she was given a spinal tap and received difficult news: brain and spinal cancer.

Since, she has undergone countless spinal taps to administer chemo and fight the new cancer. The good news is that the cancer is gone from the spine! For the remaining brain cancer, she plans to undergo a super advanced treatment called Car T cell therapy. As opposed to her last battle with cancer, when she used a donor's cells (her sister) in a stem cell transplant, this time the medical team will use her own immune cells to fight the cancer. It's a long road, but she's remaining optimistic and focusing on the positive, while channeling her motherly love for her precious daughter, Catalina, to keep up the fight.

Due to her extreme medical condition and the endless appointments, she is not able to work. Regardless of those valid reasons, the bills and daily expenses never end. She is in dire need of financial assistance to keep her home, take care of her daughter, and to just maintain daily costs, not to mention medical expenses. Any donation is beyond appreciated. In fact, words could never express Margarita's appreciation for anyone taking the time to read, share, reach out, or pray for her- let alone donate! Thank you for your kindness in a deeply challenging time.
