We’re fundraising today to help Margaret Kelly Pearson cover her living expenses while she receives treatment for cervical cancer.
We’re reaching out to share the news that Margaret is facing an enormous challenge, and calling on you—her friends and loved ones—to rally around her and help support her while she goes through medical testing, treatment, and recovery this coming year. Although there is much that is uncertain at this time, Margaret is facing her diagnosis with strength and resilience—and we want to show her that she is not facing this alone.
In November 2025, Margaret was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage-two cervical cancer. This week she was given a treatment plan, and is working with doctors to begin her treatment as soon as possible. Surgery is not an option at this stage. Margaret will start radiation therapy in early January, and will undergo twenty-eight days of radiation treatment over a period of five weeks.
Margaret and her husband Alex Pearson are the owners and operators of Ametora Supply in Kentville—a small local business run by the two of them. Margaret hasn’t been around the shop as much this year, but she is the heart of Ametora—and if you’ve had the chance to talk with her you know she is a kind, caring, and thoughtful person. Now is the time to return that kindness, by helping her face this challenge with the resources and security she needs to focus her energy on beating cancer.
Ametora has closed for several days already for Margaret to go to appointments—and the business will be closed for (at least) five weeks while she is receiving radiation therapy in Halifax during the treatment period. Because of this, they need our financial support to help cover their living and business expenses—so that both Alex and Margaret can take time off work to focus on her treatment, recovery, and healing.
They are facing many additional expenses, including:
• loss of income while Ametora is closed
• medications and therapies not fully covered
• daily living expenses during treatment
• unexpected costs that come with long term care and recovery
• costs associated with traveling to and from the hospital, including parking, fuel, meals, and other out of pocket expenses
On behalf of Margaret, thank you for your support and contributions—every little bit helps, and no amount is too small. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page with others. Together—collectively—we can help give Margaret the financial support and security she needs to begin her fight.
