Support Margaret in Her Recovery From Surgery

Encinitas devotee Margaret Wolff is in need of our support while she recovers from a complicated surgery.

Her book, In Sweet Company: Conversations with Extraordinary Women about Living a Spiritual Life , tells the stories of prominent women, including Sri Daya Mata, who share their thoughts on living a spiritual life.

Her book, Coming Home: Finding Shelter in the Love and Wisdom of Paramahansa Yogananda, tells the stories of how 14 devotees came to the path of Self-Realization Fellowship.

Here is Margaret's story in her own words:

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Over the past 25 years, you may have read something I’ve written about my journey of moving through a traumatic brain injury. The doctors said I’d never regain the peripheral vision I lost in a car accident. Or speak without a stutter. Or walk without a tilt, let alone write again or find my way to Target.

Though aspects of the injury remain and unfold as I age, this “neurological cha cha,” as I lovingly call it, has made for a fascinating journey, and inspired an unconventional reinvention of self that’s been one of the most creative endeavors of my life.

Recently, what I thought would be a minor surgery turned out to be a lot more medically complex and has now become the catalyst for my “cha cha” to be seen by new eyes, readdressed in new ways, and hopefully repaired if not greatly improved; something akin to a perfect storm. My surgeon—who loves a good challenge—brought in several specialists who know how to work with “cha cha,” and I’ve become a “pilot study” to help others with a TBI. (This is really kinda great!)

The surgery and most of the pre-and post-op care I need are not covered by insurance. It will also be a while before I can re-mobilize my writerly parts and write the stories and books that are my livelihood. So, in addition to my medical care, I need help with living expenses for several months.

I’m hoping to raise enough to do what the "wizards” on my surgical team advise. Your prayers, your kindness and your support will help me tell stories again. I’m sure there’s a great book in there waiting to be written!

Thank you for your loving care.

Margaret
