Our wonderful and beautiful sister, Margaret Rose, was stricken with breast cancer in 2015 and unfortunately, at the time, underwent double mastectomy surgery to remove the risk of spread. She has been in various stages of recovery and remission over the last 10 years. As part of her ongoing treatment, a CT scan done in November 2024 uncovered a new spot on her liver, but a biopsy came back negative. At the same time, she had been suffering from the pain of the shingles virus, which seemed to be lingering from her compromised immune system because of medication to treat her condition.

In April of 2025, a new CT and PET scan revealed the presence of cancer in new locations, and a second biopsy of the same area in the liver came back positive. Her cancer had returned. It appears to be in her rib bone, the liver, and lymph nodes in her abdomen. She has been diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Breast cancer, which is an incurable disease.

She is undergoing treatment to slow the progression and prevent the spread of this disease using a combination of genome therapy and pharmacological approaches that may serve to strengthen her ability to resist further damage to her body and extend years of life that would otherwise not be possible. There are many unknowns and uncertainties, but Margaret is very brave, strong, and has faith in our gracious and loving Lord to help her make this course of action successful.
