A Journey of Healing, Strength, and Resilience – Your Support Means the World

Hello friends, family, and all who may come across this story,
I’m reaching out today to share a bit about my journey and to ask for your support as I navigate a challenging and life-changing experience.

In December 2024, I was hospitalized after sustaining a stage 4 pressure ulcer on my buttock, a serious injury that began due to issues with my wheelchair. To give you a bit of background, my wheelchair’s right caster wheel broke, and my seat cushion, which had worn down, wasn’t replaced on time by my DME medical provider. It took them three months to process the approval for repairs, which was frustrating and inhumane—especially when you're in a situation where your chair is a critical part of your mobility and health.

As I’m paralyzed, I wasn’t able to feel the pressure on my skin, and over time, the breakdown went unnoticed. This led to a severe infection, one that went all the way down to my bone, making the situation life-threatening. The first three weeks of my hospitalization were incredibly tough—I was incredibly sick, but thanks to my amazing doctors, they put me on a powerful combination of three antibiotics, which I’m still on, and this treatment has helped combat the infection.

I was dependent on nursing care and confined to a bed with a wound vac attached to my backside, to help promote faster healing. I lost almost 30 pounds due to not being able to keep food down. As someone who is always active, not being able to move around freely has been incredibly difficult, but I’m working on regaining my strength.

Though I’ve gone through hardships like this before, I truly believe I can overcome this one too. I’m leaning on my faith and staying encouraged with the strength I draw from God and His word, and with all the prayers and support from those around me.

Looking Ahead
In mid-February, I was finally able to come home from the hospital, which was a huge step in my recovery. But let me tell you, the challenges didn’t stop there. Adjusting to life at home has been tough. I’m now spending most of my day on my stomach, which has its own challenges. Getting groceries, eating quality food, and managing my daily needs have been difficult, and I’m still working through these adjustments. It’s a whole new way of living, but I’m taking it one day at a time and doing my best to stay positive.

The Costs I’m Facing
As part of my recovery process, I’m in need of a custom wheelchair to help with my mobility and pressure relief—an essential item that costs approximately $4,000. Unfortunately, insurance will not cover the cost at this time, and this is something I need in order to make a full recovery. On top of that, I currently have more than $4,000 in outstanding medical bills, despite insurance covering a portion of my care.

This is where I humbly ask for your help. If you can contribute any amount to support me in purchasing this chair and covering the outstanding bills, it would mean the world to me. I want to get back to living my life, being active again, and eventually being able to get back to golfing. I’ve missed that so much!

Your support, whether through a donation or by simply sharing this campaign, will help make all the difference. I deeply appreciate everyone who has already reached out and offered their help, and I’m truly grateful for any assistance as I take the next steps in this recovery journey.

Please know that I am staying positive, keeping my mindset strong, and trusting that I will come through this. I know that with faith, resilience, and your support, I’ll be able to conquer this challenge and move forward. If you’d like to reach out to discuss other ways you can help, don’t hesitate to send me a message, and I’d be happy to chat further.

Thank you so much for your love, support, and prayers. May God continue to bless each and every one of you!
