Support Marc’s Fight for SSDI Approval

Donation protected
Marc is an American citizen, blind, and has been out of work for 2 years due to diabetes, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. He paid into the American taxpayers' system and social security for 45 years. Marc is only 60 years old. He is about to be homeless by the end of January 2026. He does not use drugs or alcohol. Doctors won't complete the disability forms, and SSDI has not approved him after 2 years of trying. He sold his vehicle to cover living expenses. He is now out of money and about to be out on the streets. He has two cats whom he is living for right now. I, his ex-wife, have been taking him to doctor’s appointments and grocery shopping. Plus, I have to read him all his mail. He does qualify as far as his lack of eyesight, but he is slipping through the cracks of the system. I cannot understand why he has not been approved. I have called SSDI, and they have hung up on me! Plus, once they did pick up, I was told even if a doctor approved him, which 2 visits to DHS-required appointments said he should be approved! But no, SSDI said THEY determine who gets approved! I have personally taken him to all required DHS and SSDI appointments. Confirmed yes, he qualifies! But SSDI still denies, saying he can still work. He is blind; he is a liability. I cannot take him in. I have a live-in partner, and the place where we live does NOT have the space, plus it has MANY STAIRS! I have repeatedly told all of his doctors! Still, they refuse to complete disability forms. The glaucoma doctor completed the Illinois disability card form so I can take him to the DMV to get an ID. However, it does not get him ANY income. Marc has had zero income for two years! If he loses his one-bedroom rental, which is low rent, he will not find another place to live. He is running out of time and running out of the will to live. His cats will be put into a shelter, and he said his reason for living will be taken from him.

I am reaching out to anyone who also has compassion to help this man. I have taken off work numerous times to take Marc where he needs to go. I do not have the funds to do anymore, and yes, he is my ex-husband, but it breaks my heart. Marc has an attorney who is working on his behalf. One appeal has been done and waiting! However, these doctors are not releasing records and notes crucial for his case. I have tried as well. Marc gives me permission to speak on his behalf; we were married for 22 years! We are praying this is NOT a long-term situation. Please pray for Marc and help keep him in his apartment until SSDI finally gets approved. His electric will be shut off soon.

Thank you and bless you,
Deborah B
