Friends and Family,

On Friday December 27, 2024, I received a call that I never wanted to receive from the ambulance. Marco had went down in a horse accident and would be transported to the hospital in Ocala.

Once I went to the hospital, the prognosis was not the news that we wanted to hear. Marco had broken his back in two different places. At this time, there were all kinds of emotions in the emergency room. He was given two options, to wear a brace(lifetime) and the spine would not heal or surgery. Took a while to think about it because of the severity of the surgery. Marco agreed to surgery after thinking about it. On Tuesday, Dec. 31st he had the surgery. The surgeon placed rods and screws in his back in both areas. As with all surgeries, there could be risks and complications. The day after surgery, he has pain but thanking GOD he is alive and trying to stay strong.

Now is the hard part.... The road to recovery.

We are unsure at this time if he will proceed to a rehabilitation center or not. A lot of physical therapy will go on for the next 6 months or more. Of course, this is extremely costly, and health insurance will not pay for everything. At this time, he only has the health insurance to cover the hospital bills and nothing else. As you may already know, in the horse business, if he does not work, there is no pay coming into the household. Money will be extremely tight to pay for physical therapy and medications and future doctor visits. As for myself (his wife) I am still recovering from my surgery the prior week to Marco's accident. Please continue to send prayers our way to our family and any support that you can give at this time would be greatly appreciated.

El viernes 27 de diciembre de 2024 recibí una llamada que nunca quise recibir de la ambulancia. Marco había caído en un accidente de caballo y sería trasladado al hospital de Ocala.

Una vez que fui al hospital, el pronóstico no era la noticia que queríamos escuchar. Marco se había roto la espalda en dos lugares diferentes. En este momento, había todo tipo de emociones en la sala de emergencias. Se le dieron dos opciones, usar un aparato ortopédico (de por vida) y la columna vertebral no sanaría o una cirugía. Me tomó un tiempo pensarlo debido a la gravedad de la cirugía. Marco accedió a la cirugía después de pensarlo. El martes 31 de diciembre se sometió a la cirugía. El cirujano le colocó varillas y tornillos en la espalda en ambas áreas. Al igual que con todas las cirugías, puede haber riesgos y complicaciones. Al día siguiente de la cirugía, tiene dolor, pero gracias a Dios está vivo y tratando de mantenerse fuerte.

Ahora viene la parte difícil.... El camino hacia la recuperación.

No estamos seguros en este momento si procederá a un centro de rehabilitación o no. Gran parte de la fisioterapia continuará durante los próximos 6 meses o más. Por supuesto, esto es extremadamente costoso y el seguro de salud no pagará todo. En este momento, solo tiene el seguro médico para cubrir las facturas del hospital y nada más. Como ya sabrás, en el negocio de los caballos, si no trabaja, no entra en el hogar. El dinero será extremadamente escaso para pagar la fisioterapia y los medicamentos y futuras visitas al médico. En cuanto a mí (su esposa), todavía me estoy recuperando de mi cirugía de la semana anterior al accidente de Marco. Por favor, continúen enviando oraciones a nuestra familia y cualquier apoyo que puedan dar en este momento sería muy apreciado.

Gracias a toda la familia y amigos que han ido al hospital a ver a Marco. Realmente significa mucho para nosotros.
