Marco's Heartfelt Struggle:

"From the young age of 20, Marco's life has been marked by an extraordinary fight for health. He has endured 5 heart attacks and has had 14 stents placed over the years. Despite these challenges, Marco has remained a beacon of strength and optimism for his family. In 2023, facing end-stage heart failure, Marco was placed on the heart transplant waiting list, a testament to his unwavering courage."

The Turning Point:

"On the 7th of January 2024, a call from the transplant team at 8:30 PM brought a glimmer of hope: a potential donor heart was available. By the morning of January 8th, Marco was in St Vincent’s, preparing for the life-changing operation. The transplant was a success, but the journey ahead remains fraught with challenges."

Post-Operation Hurdles:

"Eight days post-operation, Marco faced a setback with a moderate 3A heart rejection, requiring intensive treatment with high-dose steroids. As of January 20th, he is battling fluid accumulation around the heart cavity, with a surgical drainage scheduled for January 22nd. The road to recovery includes weekly, fortnightly, and monthly follow-ups, biopsies, blood tests, and X-rays for the next year."
