Support Marco’s Fight Against Acute Leukemia

Hello, I’m Marco and thank you to anyone taking the time to read this. About a month ago I was diagnosed with Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and recently me and my doctors/specialists have seen my weekly results which indicated that I had a rise of cell blasts in my body and that my leukemia has progressed into Acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
- This gofundme will help cover my chemotherapy treatments I am receiving right now as well as any I might need in the future. As well as a future bone morrow transplant down the line I will need. My hospital bills from this month and last month. Also with financial support as I cannot work right now due to my illness and recovery time during and after treatment.
- On November 8th I went to the my local urgent care due to some bad abdominal pain and was later sent to the hospital for further testing. Spending about 4 days in the hospital and 3 days recovering after multiple tests, CT scans, a bone morrow biopsy, and treatments. This first time in the hospital I was diagnosed with Chronic myeloid leukemia. This news absolutely broke me and left me scared as I never thought this could happen to someone like me (none of us do). After getting back home from the hospital and trying to settle back into my “normal life” again I begin taking treatment and seeing a specialist and doing weekly lab work to keep an eye on my white blood cell count and leukemia. I was finally feeling better and felt even more hopeful on beating this sickness. Starting to believe that my CML was beginning to get better about a month later my weekly lab results detected something different unfortunately.
- On December 6 I got a call from my specialist regarding my lab work. Nothing could’ve prepared me for what he was about to tell me and it brought me back into a state of hopelessness, after I was just feeling optimistic about my future and health again. They had found a high level of cell blasts in my blood (immature blood cells that prevent healthy ones from growing) and this indicated that my CML had progressed into AML. About a day later I was admitted back into the hospital to start chemotherapy right away onto my journey in beating Leukemia.
- I’ll be in the hospital for the next 3 weeks receiving treatment and taking a leave of absence for work to fully recover for a few weeks/months. As well as receiving chemotherapy outside of being admitted in the hospital and a bone marrow transplant down the line.  I’m doing my best and everything I can to be strong to beat this especially in a moment in my life where I had so many big and personal plans in my life for next year.
- With the love and support of my loving family and friends it has been so reassuring and has given me so much hope and fight. I appreciate anyone who is able to help or donate no matter how small or big or even simply just sharing this page for me is more than just enough!
- Thank you all for the love and support in my time of need!  - Marco
