Support Marcie & Tom After House Fire
Donation protected
My name is Sue. Yesterday, on May 21, my older sister Marcie and brother-in-law Tom's house was destroyed by a fire that started in their kitchen shortly after they left the house to have lunch. As a result of the fire, the entire first floor will require gutting, the basement and upstairs are flooded, and the roof and trusses will need to be replaced. It will likely be at least a year of displacement from the home that they love. The mitigation company will try and save what they can, but at this point, nearly all their belongings (other than what they were wearing or had with them at lunch) were lost due to either fire, smoke/soot, or water.
We are so very thankful they left for lunch - so that nobody was hurt - when they did as the kitchen is their main exit due to the wheelchair ramp.
I am working with Marcie's & Tom's adult kids (my nieces & nephews) to see if we can lighten some of the next few weeks of what will likely feel like overwhelming tasks for them. Yes, they have insurance coverage. Yes, they have friends & family who will lean in to help. But we also recognize that every little bit will help Marcie & Tom in the next few weeks as they need to replace every little basic necessity that was lost yesterday when their home was destroyed.
