Marcia is the heart and soul behind countless animal rescue efforts in our community. I first met her at a 'yappy hour' fundraiser she organized to help local rescues, and her passion for helping animals—and people—was immediately clear. Our shared love for rescue work quickly turned into a close friendship, and I’ve seen firsthand how Marcia dedicates her time and energy to making a difference for others. As the founder of an animal rescue and a manager at El Chico’s restaurant, Marcia is always the first to step up for those in need, whether it’s organizing fundraisers or lending a helping hand to a friend.
Recently, Marcia received the devastating news that she has a rare form of squamous cell carcinoma in her right sinus. She has already undergone surgery and is now facing 5-6 weeks of intensive radiation and chemotherapy at Moffet in Tampa—far from her home, her beloved dogs, and her support system. The physical, emotional, and financial toll of this journey is immense, and Marcia will need help with medical bills, travel, lodging, food, and anything else that can make her more comfortable during treatment. Knowing Marcia, if there is anything left over, she will use it to care for her dogs, who mean the world to her.
Marcia has always been the first to help anyone in need, never asking for anything in return. She was hesitant about starting this GoFundMe, saying, 'so many people need so many things.' But now, it’s our turn to rally around her. Please join us in supporting Marcia as she faces this challenge with the same courage and compassion she’s shown to so many others. Every donation, share, and message of support will make a difference. Thank you for helping us show Marcia that she’s not alone.
