This fundraiser is for our dear friend Marcelo Paulo. I met Marcelo’s wife back in Brazil, where we worked at the same company. Marcelo and my husband shared many mutual friends in Brazil but had never met in person until both families moved to Texas. Here, our friendship grew even stronger, and today they are like family to us.

Marcelo and his family moved to Texas in December 2022 when he was transferred by his company. They are a Brazilian family, and this opportunity was the realization of a lifelong professional dream for him.

In November 2025, Marcelo was diagnosed with aggressive oral cancer, cancer in the lymph nodes, and thyroid cancer. He underwent surgery on December 17 and will have another surgery on January 15, followed by radiation and chemotherapy. Due to his treatment, Marcelo is currently unable to work and receives only 60% of his income through disability insurance. His family lives in a rented home and continues to face high expenses, including health insurance, rent, and daily living costs.
