My name is Nastasha Foster, and I am a close friend of Marcella Everson. I am writing this on her behalf following the incomprehensible and heartbreaking loss of her son, Camar Cordero.

Yesterday, our hearts were shattered in a way no parent, family, or community should ever have to experience.

Marcella tragically lost her beloved son, Camar, in an unimaginable act of violence. A young life was taken far too soon, and a mother is now facing every parent’s worst nightmare.

Anyone who knows Marcella knows the love she has for her children. Right now, she is navigating life altering grief, heartbreak, and the overwhelming reality of laying her son to rest.

We are creating this fundraiser to surround Marcella and her family with love and support during this devastating time. While funds will help with funeral and memorial expenses for Camar, we also want to ease the financial burden that comes with sudden tragedy allowing Marcella the time and space to grieve, heal, and care for herself and her family without the immediate pressure of returning to work.

No parent should have to worry about finances while mourning the loss of their child.
