I am setting up this Go Fund Me for my best friend's father, Marc Richey. He and his wife are rather private people and I'm sure they're going to be mad at me for doing this, but I know those who know and love Marc and the Richey's would want to help out during this hard time.

For those who may not know Marc personally, he is one of the most genuine, kind and loving men you could ever meet.

He loves Jesus and his family. In fact, he's dedicated his life to sharing the Love of Christ and taking care of his family.

He spent close to 50 years serving in ministry from being a camp counselor, youth pastor, music minister, associate pastor and actively serving in local churches up until last summer (2024).

He worked for over 20 years at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in their department of drama doing lighting, set, and sound design as well as teaching within the department as well.

If that wasn't enough- he also served over 15 years at the Kentucky Baptist Convention as the Senior Adult Music Minister for the state of Kentucky.

Since 2015 he has been teaching at the Shelby County Kentucky Adult Education Center helping teach, build up, and encourage so many students to pursue their GEDs. He has earned the title of "most beloved math teacher" in the region because of his unique ability to help students understand and master the math concepts they need for their GEDs.

All in all, Marc is someone who has spent his life serving others, building community and sharing his talents and laughs with the world. Quite the jokester, he's still even entertaining his doctors and nurses daily with wise cracks, jokes and stories.

Now it's time for the community Marc has loved on to love back on him.

In April 2025 Marc was diagnosed with stage four neuroendocrine cancer. The presence of tumors within his stomach and on his liver mixed with a multitude of food allergies has taken a major toll on his body.

Currently his kidneys are not functioning because he is unable to eat and is now struggling with dehydration and malnutrition as his body cannot absorb what it needs, nor expell and clear toxins.
He has been in the hospital for about a week now trying to get his kidneys functioning again so he can resume treatment for the cancer.

He has a positive outlook, but is struggling with pain as he is unable to tolerate pain medicine. Even through all of this, his biggest concern is for his wife and how she is handling everything, more so than he is worried about himself.

He has shared 39 years of wedded bliss with his beautiful bride Kristie. They are the cutest and such a hoot. One of my favorite stories about them is that after their wedding, while still in their finest duds, they stopped at the local McDonald's to grab a Happy Meal. The manager was so excited he took a ton of pictures of them and gave them their meals for free. Up until recently you could find both of them at the local McDonald's in Eminence at least once a week (if not more!). They're there so much, they know all the staff by name.

Right now the family is facing a lot of uncertainty about what the future will hold. If you are able, please help support the Richey family through donating to or sharing this campaign. Marc and Kristie are both missing work and medical bills are mounting.

At this time they don't need to be worrying about bills, but spending what time they have together. Money collected will be used to cover expenses incurred while in the hospital, missed wages, and whatever else the family needs during this hard time.
