Marc Garcia's Journey to Recovery From West Nile Virus

Donation protected

Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,

I hope this message finds you well. Today, I reach out to you with a heavy but hopeful heart to share the incredible journey of my dear friend, Marc, and to ask for your support as he navigates this challenging chapter of his life.

Three years ago, my friend Marc Garcia was struck by the West Nile Virus, which left him paralyzed from the waist down. Marc has faced unimaginable obstacles with courage and resilience. Despite this life-altering diagnosis, he fought valiantly, spending ten long months in a wheelchair, determined to reclaim his life. As if that battle wasn’t enough, he learned that he had a rarer variant of the virus, the St. Louis Encephalitis Virus (SLEV), which explained the prolonged nature of his recovery. This news, while daunting, only fueled Marc's fire to overcome the odds.

His journey has not just been about physical recovery but also about rediscovering himself. Marc has had to confront the difficult task of accepting his new reality while holding on to the essence of who he was. His tenacity has led him to surpass the expectations of every doctor he has encountered. Today, he can walk short distances with the aid of a cane and forearm crutches, a testament to his determination and hard work.

However, the past year has brought a series of setbacks that have tested Marc’s spirit even further. He faced a wrist injury, complications with his eyesight, and a broken foot, leading to multiple surgeries and a return to a wheelchair. Amidst these personal challenges, he poured his heart into building a business for someone who had lost a significant amount of money. He tackled this endeavor with creativity and resolve, only to be blindsided by betrayal at a critical moment.

Marc’s financial situation has become increasingly dire due to his inability to work consistently. The physical limitations he faces have made it nearly impossible to find stable employment in his industry, where he has dedicated over 40 years of his life. Despite applying for countless jobs, the obstacles keep piling up. Alongside this, the immense amount of medical bills from surgeries, treatments, and ongoing care has created a heavy financial burden that he struggles to manage.

Today, we are asking for your support to help Marc continue his journey of recovery and resilience. Your contributions will assist with medical expenses, rehabilitation, and the everyday challenges he faces as he strives to find his new normal. No amount is too small; every dollar counts and will make a significant impact on his life.

Also, Marc is looking for employment also. Due to his situation he has not been able to find more employment during this last 3 years. Marc has owned his own company in the past and has been in the food sales industry during his career.

Marc’s story is one of strength, resilience, and the indomitable human spirit. Together, we can help him turn the page on this chapter and embrace the future with hope and determination.

Thank you for taking the time to read Marc's story. Your support, whether through donations, sharing this campaign, or simply sending positive thoughts, means the world to him and to all of us who care about him.

With gratitude and hope,

Steven Wade
