Maniya is my 14 year old daughter on may 14 2024 our lives forever changed. It all started with a stomach flu then turned for the worse. I got a call from my oldest daughter saying Maniya was worse then when I left that morning i rushed home from work and called 911 because she couldn’t even stand up . She was rushed to regional hospital in Scranton where they called me in the back and told me she coded but they got her back and she was very sick and needed blood transfusions and platelet transfusions. She was then life flighted to Geisinger in Danville. She was put on life support and in the children’s icu… the first day we had no answers as to why or what was going on . The only thing they were saying is her blood was so low she only had 1.8 liters left in her body( normal is 12-18 ) She has had so many blood and platelet transfusions in the past almost 2 weeks I can’t keep track honestly my mind is a blurry most days . Then on Wednesday may 15th we got the devastating news that they did blood tests and a bone marrow sample and it concluded Maniya has B - cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia…. She has to do chemotherapy ( she has already started) and keep getting spinal taps and bone marrow test to see if it is going around her brain and her cancer cell levels. We are still in Danville hospital and honestly don’t know how long we will be here because her white blood cell count is still very low way to low to go home. Meaning she has no type of immune system right now so the hospital is the safest place for her right now. I ( Amanda her mom) have been here with her since the 14 of may . As you can imagine my bills are piling up at home and staying in the hospital isn’t cheap at all with food and all and even after we get to go home we will be having to come back to Danville every week for chemo and testing . I had to take fmla from work and unfortunately it’s unpaid so I will be out of my paychecks for a while .Also being away from my other 2 daughters is heartbreaking. Even after we do get to go home this isn’t over for us sadly. So right now anything helps and I greatly appreciate anyone who does help in my family’s time of need . And if you can’t donate money I understand but at least donate some blood or platelets at your local blood bank there has been a shortage especially on platelets since we been here !!! We appreciate you all and thank you!!!
