My name is Mandy Myers. On May 23, 2025, I experienced a migraine along with an episode of vertigo. I fell out of bed hard. I knocked my CPAP under the bed and ended up knocking myself out. I woke up around 6 am. It took me until 2 pm to make it to the bathroom.
My dad called three times, and my sister also attempted to contact me. I was unable to answer the phone. They knew something was wrong and drove over an hour to get to me. My sister had a key, but I had the door chained. My neighbor kicked my door until the chain broke. They came in while I was in the bathroom. I wasn't communicating correctly, so they immediately called an ambulance. I was taken by ambulance to MercyOne North Iowa Hospital. I had an MRI and they realized it was brain tumor.
The next morning, on May 24, 2025, I had surgery to remove a golf ball-sized brain tumor. I remember waking up with bandages on my head and having six IVs in. I was confused and didn't know what happened. I spent three days in the Critical Care Unit and two days on a regular floor. I went home on May 28, 2025.
I wasn't able to drive until July. It was extremely difficult relying on family, friends, and neighbors to assist me with doctor appointments and simple things like groceries. (Thank goodness for delivery!)
I am doing really well physically considering all I have been through. I have experienced seroma (fluid buildup around my incision) and headaches and even had an interior suture push its way out. I struggle every day with my emotions. Some days I am up, and some days I am down. Therapy has helped immensely.
My hospital bills are in the $160,000 range. Thank God for insurance. I only owe a fraction of that, but it's still a lot. I am not normally the kind of person that asks for help, but I need it this time. Bills keep piling up, and I can't pay all of them.
If you find kindness in your heart and are willing to help, I would be eternally grateful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
Thank you so much! You have no idea how much your donation means to me!
