Help Save Retired K-9 Sonny – Urgent Surgery Needed

We urgently need your help to save the life of retired police K-9 Sonny, a 10-year-old German Shepherd who spent numerous years serving and protecting our community. Sonny is now facing a life-threatening medical condition that requires immediate, life-saving surgery.

Sonny proudly served in law enforcement and now lives in retirement with his former handler and his family, who love and care for him deeply. Unfortunately, like many retired K-9s, Sonny no longer has access to department-funded medical care — and the cost of treatment is overwhelming.

Words from Sonny's human partner (aka Dad): "I've heard it said that. “Everyone thinks they have the best dog. And none of them are wrong."

I believe this is true to an extent. However to successfully work a police K9 is not like having a regular dog. It is the most honest and enduring relationship that I ever could have imagined.

As police officers we celebrated great successes and endured tragic losses. Together we’ve been scared, exhausted, and challenged to our limits. But we always pushed each other forward. Always forward. Both in work and in life.

There is no limit to the love, loyalty and courage that Sonny has shared with me and my family. We have worked lived and played together for almost 10 years. Not only has he been my partner but also my best friend. My brother. He has been my shadow and a loving member of my family since we won each other’s trust many years ago.

We’ve chased down bad guys and snuggled with my kids together in the same 24 hour day.

This pup has always given everything to everyone who has ever asked him to do anything. He’s worked sick, tired, hungry, scared.

Best cop I ever worked with. Best friend I’ve ever had.
