We are reaching out to seek compassion for one of my dear friend’s mother in not her first, but second battle against an unforgiving cancer. Mama has recently underwent her second stem cell transplant after being diagnosed with Myelodysplastic/Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MDS/MPN) — a rare and aggressive group of blood cancers that combine features of both myelodysplastic syndromes and myeloproliferative neoplasms. This comes after her previous battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, which she bravely fought and overcame, achieving remission after years of treatment previously.

Despite her strength and resilience, the road to recovery this time has been especially challenging. She was recently hospitalized during her second transplant and, shortly after being discharged, suffered a fractured clavicle, complicating her already fragile condition. She is now in need of round-the-clock care — requiring a 24-hour caregiver to assist with basic daily needs.

To make matters more difficult, this situation has resulted in a complete loss of income, as the family primarily relies on a single income household. The financial burden of medical bills, caregiving costs, mobility support, and recovery expenses is now overwhelming.
