My name is Precious Wright. I was born and raised in Chicago and graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston. I am dedicated to promoting social justice, enhancing human potential with access to jobs and needed services, and advocating for all women and children. I am seeking donors for my god baby Ma’Liyah who suffers from sickle cell anemia and is in need of a bone marrow transplant. She is 2 years old and has suffered from this condition since birth. She experiences extreme pain in her upper and lower extremities along with stomach pain, running fevers, chills, and the need for blood transfusions. Her mother, Deandrea Booker, has been struggling, trying her best to make sure Ma’Liyah receives the necessary healthcare that she requires, sometimes being hospitalized for days and weeks at a time. Of course, this has put a huge strain on the family’s finances and the ability to work consistently and pay bills. Deandrea has two other children to care for, and she does it all alone. She has already applied and appealed for SSI benefits for Ma’Liyah and has been constantly denied. Her last vehicle was just repossessed, and she is dealing with a deteriorating home that she is trying to get FEMA benefits for, which have been denied so far. She is dealing with flooding, foundational cracks, a damaged roof, and potential exposure to mold.
We are kindly requesting any assistance that you are able to give. The winter months are here, and this family’s survival is at extreme risk. We appreciate your consideration to donate.
