Justice for a Young Father After a Tragic Accident

We are asking for your help to support a young Black man, On a rainy Tuesday afternoon in Evansville Indiana Malik, who is being unfairly treated after a tragic traffic accident.

Recently, this young father was involved in a heartbreaking collision that took the life of a young mother. Our deepest prayers and condolences go out to her family—she did not deserve to lose her life, and no words can ease that pain.

But this was a traffic accident—not a crime. It was raining heavily, and while driving a box truck for work, the vehicle hydroplaned. In a split second, he lost control, overcorrected, and the truck flipped, leaving him with a broken collarbone. He was in shock, crying, and injured. And still, the police took him into custody, citing his red, drooping eyes—not acknowledging that he had just experienced a life-altering event .

Malik was not impaired at the time of the crash. There was no reckless intent—just a young man doing his job in difficult road conditions.

This young man, Malik, has never been in trouble with the law. He is a hardworking father who loves his young daughter, and now his future, and his child’s future, hang in the balance.

We are seeking help to cover his legal defense, so he can be represented by an attorney who will fight for justice. He deserves a chance to tell the truth, to be heard fully, and to not have his life taken from him because of a tragic accident.

We are not trying to take away from the pain of the young woman’s family—we mourn with them. But two families should not lose their futures.
