Malcom Heath has been my friend for at least a decade, and we’ve shared a passion for gardening, plant propagation, seed starting, and permaculture. Malcom’s expertise in permaculture-style gardening is well known in our community, and he’s always the first to offer encouragement to anyone just starting out. Whether it’s sharing information or gifting a plant or two, Malcom’s generosity has helped countless people discover the joy of growing their own food and flowers.
On December 7th, 2025, Malcom’s life changed in an instant when his house burned to the ground. He lost everything he owned and is now in the hospital. The loss is devastating—not only of his home and personal belongings, but also the infrastructure for his small business, which has been a staple at local farmer’s markets. Malcom’s unique offerings in the plant and vegetable world have made him a beloved figure.
Malcom is a single father to his son, Ronan, and his love for his boy shines through in everything he does. Right now, Malcom needs our help to cover medical expenses, replace essential items and replace valuable business tools lost in the fire. If you’ve ever benefited from Malcom’s kindness, enjoyed a talk about figs and rare pepper plants or just realize what a great man he is, please consider supporting him during this difficult time. Every contribution will help Malcom and Ronan get back on their feet and continue sharing their gifts with our community.
Any amount helps and please share with others.
