It’s a bittersweet day for our family, as we’re still grieving the loss of her mother, my big sister—who tragically passed away on February 28th, 2026. Their father had also passed away two years ago, leaving Malaya and her younger brother Malakai, who just started pre-K, in the care of their grandparents (my parents), their aunt (my twin sister), and myself, their uncle.
Malaya is in 1st grade and Malakai is just beginning his school journey. With summer approaching, we’re doing our best to provide a loving and stable home. My parents both work full-time, and my sister is finishing her nursing degree. We all pitch in, but financially, it can be a challenge to cover daycare, school supplies, clothing, and activities for the kids. Malaya has been especially excited about joining gymnastics, and we want to support her interests and help both children thrive.
We’re asking our community to come together and help us build a fund for Malaya and Malakai’s future. Your support will help us provide stability, opportunities, and a sense of hope for the children as they grow. Any contribution means so much to our family during this difficult time. Thank you for being part of their journey.
