Malana’s Healing Journey — Help Us Support Her Full Recovery.
Our amazing daughter Malana is a radiant, resilient, and compassionate 14-year-old whose joy is contagious and whose presence lights up the room. She loves playing soccer, connecting deeply with her church youth group, and sharing laughter with her best friends. Her spirit is strong, and her heart is full of love.
On February 16th, during a youth group ski trip, Malana experienced a concussion that has led to an extended healing journey. What we expected to be a short recovery has, up until now, included persistent symptoms like daily headaches (often 7–8/10 pain), dizziness, vision and vestibular difficulties, light and sound sensitivity, fatigue, cognitive fog, and sleep challenges — along with emotional layers of anxiety and depression.
Through it all, Malana has shown incredible strength, patience, and grace. We trust in her body’s innate wisdom and capacity to heal. We believe in her full recovery — in her returning completely to herself as the joyful, creative, and energetic teen she is.
She’s currently receiving support through a hospital homebound program, after needing to step away from her schoolwork and honors classes. While this has been a big shift, we’re surrounding her with encouragement, calm, and every resource we can find.
We’re also calling in support to help bridge the financial gap for the healing care she needs. Many of the therapies most aligned with her recovery — including neuro-optometry, trauma recovery, and care at specialized concussion and brain recovery centers — are not covered by our insurance.
We’ve also had to miss work to coordinate care, make long-distance trips to specialists, and manage ongoing appointments for imaging, labs, physical therapy, counseling, chiropractic, and upcoming audiology and neurology consults.
We’re setting this fundraiser up to help cover:
• Out-of-pocket medical and therapy expenses
• Travel expenses for care
• Missed wages due to caregiving
• Co-pays, deductibles, and non- covered healing modalities
Our goal is $25,000 — a reflection of real costs already incurred and what may still be ahead — but even the smallest gift helps and means so much.
More than anything, we are deeply grateful for the continued love, positive energy, prayers, and kindness that have been flowing to Malana and our family.
We are open to all the ways healing may come. We believe doors are opening — and will continue to open — for her to receive the perfect care, with ease and support at every step.
We’re holding space for her complete and lasting healing, and for her return to a full life of joy, connection, and adventure.
Thank you for being part of Malana’s healing circle.
With love and heartfelt gratitude,
The Knowles Family
