Support Malachi's Flight School Journey
Donation protected
As one of Malachi's grandparents, I am starting this GoFundMe because we have exhausted all other means of getting our young man back on the road while attending flight school. Just getting to his school has been rather troublesome as he often attends classes or flies all hours of the day and night. We need family and friends to help us again.
About 6-7 weeks after arriving in Redmond, Oregon, the 2013 Mini Cooper that many of us helped Malachi purchase, failed despite maintenance that had been completed after arriving in Redmond. The engine is not repairable. Malachi adores this little car and we have located a suitable engine and the car is at a repair shop. Since we, (his maternal grandparents) put a sizable chunk of this purchase on a major credit card, we immediately provided a lot of documentation and put OUR amount into dispute. The hope was to get all or part of our money back to pay for the engine replacement. While it recently looked promising, it was decided today that the charge would stand as billed and the dispute was closed. His grandfather also recently put his vintage motorcycle up for sale. It has not sold at this time but if it does the proceeds will also go into this GoFundMe account toward the engine.
While most of us are running tight budgets these days, I just can't help but feel if we work together, we can get him and his Mini back on the road. He MUST have transportation. His housing is NOT next to the flight school/airport. He MUST not be late for scheduled flights. One thing to note is that school policy for Malachi does not allow him to hold a job. The thought process of the school is that his job IS the flight school. He is to attend classes, acquire flight hours and study. Period.
Whether its $5 or $50 donated, rest assured it will ALL be applied to repairing his vehicle. Other than the engine, it is actually in really nice condition. Thanks be to SO many friends and family who helped Malachi get prepared to go to school. It was such short notice from school acceptance to actual start date. You all came through. I am asking you to reach in your pockets one more time. If you are not able at this time, we ask for your prayers that a viable solution comes quickly. This situation is actually getting quite urgent now that he has night flights. Walking on or near a freeway is simply not safe.
If you wish to remain anonymous, there is a check box on the donor form. Also, if you do not want to use this format, please contact Malachi's mother for other options.
