On Wednesday, January 28th, Makenzie Price, better known as: Kenz, Mak, Kenzie or the sweetest person you've ever met, suffered a large ischemic thrombotic stroke. Kenz then spent over a week in the Neuro ICU at UC Medical Center, following an initial thrombectomy procedure. Makenzie then underwent a number of procedures following this initial one due to brain swelling and other clots found, including a craniectomy. She spent a total of 19 days in the hospital. Makenzie has recently arrived to in-patient rehabilitation for speech, occupation and physical therapy.
Makenzie has a really long road ahead, this will be a challenging journey for her and her family; physically, mentally and financially. At this point it is hard to say what exactly things will look like, but this is a life-alerting event and will often bring on deficits of various kinds. It's one day at a time. With hospital bills and ongoing rehabilitation costs, any support is much appreciated.
This is one of those things that feels out of this world because of how truly unfair it is. Makenzie is funny, kind, passionate, full of life and a wonderful friend. Her spirit and personality shines through even amidst this cruel and overpowering chaos. It is so impressive and truly incredible to see. They are being so brave and have come so far in such a short amount of time.
Please join me in supporting Kenz and her family through this ridiculously challenging time. And if you're a friend, don't hesitate to reach out. Community is everything, Kenz has her phone.
Thank you for considering donating to support my dear friend and her wonderful family.
