Hi! My name is Makenna Pollock, and I am a junior vocal performance major at Sam Houston State University. I recently had the opportunity to audition for 'Opera Viva!' - an opera program in Verona, Italy - and I have just received my acceptance!

For three weeks this summer, I will get to take private voice lessons from professors of voice from prestigious programs (such as Yale, Eastman, and Royal College in London), participate in an opera scenes program, perform in three concerts, as well as attend several performances at the world-famous l'Arena di Verona, all while taking language classes and being immersed in Italian culture. This program is a great opportunity for me to not only grow as a musician, but also build relationships with professionals in the industry.

This fundraiser is primarily to cover the cost of tuition of the program, as well as my plane tickets there and back.

In addition to this fundraiser, I will be performing in a benefit recital with my friend and colleague, Allie (who was also accepted into 'Opera Viva!'). This will be in late April at Wildwood United Methodist Church and will be live-streamed for those who can't be there in person, so be on the look-out for that link as we get closer to the event!
