Hello my name is Makayla Verhaag, on the evening of May 17, 2025 a fire started in the bottom left apartment which ended up consuming the entire building leaving my family and three other family’s displaced. We are unsure what exactly started the fire as it is still under investigation at this time, nevertheless we are left without a home and all of our belongings. I’m here to ask the community for help so that we can find and get into a new home. At the time of the fire my mother, my son, my boyfriend, my sister, and our cats were inside when the fire started. Thankfully every single one of us and pets made it out alive with just the clothes on our backs. This has been extremely devastating for my family and truly so hard to coup with as I have lived in the apartment over ten years. And the financial toll has been substantial aswell as emotional not just for me but for my son all he wants to do is go home. I do have cats I am not willing to part with as I have had them going on ten years they are my family my babies. I’m looking to raise at least 3,000 to cover move in cost and pet deposits anything anyone is willing to help with is appreciated. We are trying to get back to normalcy as quickly as possible for my sons sake. Thank you and good bless
