Dear friends and family of Makayla Johnson,

On Saturday, July 12, Makayla Johnson and her boyfriend, Owen, were in a life-altering car accident and both were med-flighted from the scene to UW Madison for intensive care. Makayla is currently in critical condition in the ICU where she is receiving medical help for her many injuries. Her injuries include: a ruptured diaphragm, a shattered pelvis, a broken right hand, multiple fractures in her spine, a hole in her bladder, lacerations to her kidney and colon, and a burst spleen. Her injuries have her bound in a hospital, where she is just beginning her healing journey. She has a long road of physical and emotional healing ahead of her.

The road to recovery will not be easy for her and extends past just herself. Her mother, Kelli Aide, will house and assist with her recovery, but being there for her can only go so far. Due to her injuries, she will be in the ICU for at least a month and, as we can all imagine, not be able to work for months. She has already lost her car, phone, and apartment due to the accident and needs our help to get her life back. We are asking for your help in funding her rehabilitation back from this tragic event.
