Support Maizie with Kip’s emergency Medical fund

Hi, my name is Nora and I’m creating this go fund me for my friend and co-worker Maizie Richards, who’s experienced a sudden medical emergency with her dog Kip.

From Maizie on 10/9:

“On October 4th, I noticed Kip wasn’t eating, was very lethargic, throwing up but I thought he just has a stomach bug. A couple days passed with no improvements or appointments at our local vet. So I brought him to the emergency vet Friday. Once admitted they thought he had an obstruction so they took X-rays, had multiple blood work, IV’s, but turned out to be parvo despite him being vaccinated. They said it’s a new breakthrough strand they’ve been seeing. It was touch and go for 4 days but he was strong and a fighter and I’m picking him up tonight. He still has a long road of recovery but it’s a miracle he survived and that we brought him in when we did. Between all the tests and everything, is being estimated to be around $8,000.

Maizie is a wonderful part of our community, caring for our smallest members as a local preschool and art teacher. I have seen her selflessly show up for others in their time of need, always lending a hand and going above and beyond. This medical emergency couldn’t have come at a worse time for her being that she’s taking time off of work to visit family and the flights are non refundable. She’s also putting herself through school taking college courses towards teaching, making things even more financially straining with this unexpected and scary situation.

Kip is a kind, gentle, loving, playful 1 1/2 year old chocolate lab with lots of adventures left to be had.

While we all send well wishes and hope that Kip has finally turned the corner and is healing, any help we could lend to ease the burden of care would make such a huge difference.

update 10/10: unfortunately once home Kip took a turn for the worse and ended up back in the emergency vet at 1am. Maizie was with him there all night, and has now accrued over a thousand more in vet bills. We will update when we know how Kip is. So far he’s still in the emergency vet.
