Support Maiya's Road to Recovery

Hello Everyone! Some of you may already know the devastating news we received last Saturday, Aug 31st, when my daughter, Maiya, was in the passenger seat of a car that was involved in a horrible car accident that nearly took her precious life.

The accident happened in Mission Viejo when the vehicle crashed into a traffic light post off Alicia Parkway and burst into flames. Luckily, some brave heroes came to her rescue and pulled her out of the burning car, probably seconds before it would have been too late. Maiya was rushed to Mission Hospital, and then shortly thereafter, she was transported to a more specialized ICU facility to treat her burns. She sustained several serious injuries, including two severely broken ankles, her humerus bone was snapped in half, and she has burns on her head and other parts of her body. She was also intubated for several days due to the toxic smoke inhalation, which caused her throat to swell. Within the first 48 hours, Maiya had four surgeries: one on each ankle, which were reconstructed with metal rods, plates, and screws; one on her arm; and the last to treat her burns, which may require additional skin grafting surgeries in the near and/or distant future. As of now, the surgeries went well, but of course, she will not be able to walk for quite some time due to the healing process and extensive rehab to follow. This has been by far the most tragic and devastating time in my life, and more importantly, my daughter's life. Maiya's family and friends have provided a great support system for her thus far, and she is progressing each and every day.

During her road to recovery, Maiya will need her family to be right by her side every step of the way. I have currently taken a leave from work and will not return for a significant amount of time. Therefore, I'm reaching out to all of you for donations of any size to assist with current and upcoming medical related expenses, lost wages, and anything Maiya needs to make this long tumultuous journey more comfortable for her. Nothing is more important right now than my baby girl receiving the attention she requires and deserves. Thank you all in advance and I will keep everyone posted on her progress.
