Support Maiteeny and Her Family in Their Battle with Cancer
Donation protected
Dear Friends & Family — as many of you know, Maiteeny and her family; Matt and their wonderful kiddos Dean (6) and Dara (10) have been navigating life with cancer since her diagnosis in 2018 with stage four breast cancer. Maiteeny has been through so many ups and downs since the initial diagnosis six years ago, but Matt and Mai have done a phenomenal job of providing tons of special times for their family. We are thankful to reflect on the years she has had in this battle that have been filled with travel, work, family time, good food and friends.
This year things have taken a difficult turn. Maiteeny underwent two brain surgeries in February, and has since been on a long road to recovery that has proven extremely challenging. As we speak she is undergoing an extended stay in the ICU and has been fighting for her life in a battle with pneumonia. In the course of her ICU stay she has encountered many obstacles. Unfortunately there is suspicion of a possible infection in her brain, and/or recurrence of metastases there, as well as concern for more widespread cancer. Hope for a miraculous turnaround is strong, but the situation is precarious.
As members of Maiteeny’s devoted tribe, we desperately want to help Matt as he supports the kids and navigates this heartbreaking situation. Matt truly values the loving presence and emotional support that he has gotten from their friends and loved ones during this time. However, he has been taking care of the family and Mai full-time the past several months and we would like to help smooth the road by providing the opportunity to help in a more tangible way. Matt was initially reluctant to accept financial support, but we reminded him that when a person walks through the world as Maiteeny does, drawing people toward her and her kind, open spirit, those people want to help in every way that they can. Any contribution is appreciated. Thank you so much for all the love and support.
