Support Maisey's Service Dog Journey
Hi everyone,
My name is Heather, and for my birthday ( Oct 9th) I’m raising funds to help my puppy Maisey become the service dog I need to navigate the world with confidence. I’ve struggled with anxiety and depression for many years, and as an autistic adult, I often find it overwhelming and scary to even leave my apartment. That’s where Maisey comes in. She has been my hope, my companion, and the reason I’ve started to believe I might be able to face the world again.
Maisey, however, is going through a difficult time. She’s currently experiencing a fear period and has started barking and growling at people and dogs on our walks, despite being socialized from a young age and going everywhere with us. I’m working with two trainers, but they only come once a week, and Maisey needs more structured, consistent support to build her confidence and work through this stage.
There’s an amazing program at Liberty Bark in Salt Lake City, a structured daycare that provides day training and board n train programs specifically to help dogs like Maisey develop confidence and overcome fear. I would love to enroll her, but the costs are high, especially with the other training expenses we’ve already incurred. I’m asking for your help to give Maisey the training she needs to build confidence and helping me regain my independence and feel safe in the world again.
Maisey has also been having a dog walker from Sugar House Pets come once a week to build confidence. I’ve never been good at asking for help, but this is about giving Maisey the tools to support me, and in turn, giving me the chance to live a fuller life. Thank you for any support you can offer, whether that’s through a donation or simply sharing this with others. Your kindness means everything to me. Thank you
- Heather
