I'm an 8th grade social studies teacher in Maine. My school has been running a school wide National History Day (NHD) for 12 years. Every year we send 30+ students to the state competition and each year we have 1-6 students make it to the national contest. This year I have 5 students that have placed at the state competition and are headed to the national competition. I also received the Maine NHD Teacher of the Year which puts me in the running for the National NHD Teacher of the Year. I'm allowed to travel to the national contest but would have to pay for the entire trip by myself. I have never attended due to this reason. I'm hoping to fundraise to attend the contest for the first time in 12 years to support my students and represent my state. The national contest is June 8-12.
