Support Mai's Study of Master of Fine Arts in NYC

Hi, I’m Mai Elgizouli, a multidisciplinary artist from Sudan, specializing in film directing and music videos. As an award-winning director, I’ve created several video and film projects in Sudan. However, the recent war has profoundly impacted my ability to create and find inspiration in my home.

The Impact of War: The conflict in Sudan has not only taken away my creative space but has also deeply affected my sense of hope. Despite these challenges, I’ve continued to develop many projects that reflect the resilience of the human spirit, focusing on issues related to women, joy, and mental health.

A New Opportunity: In the midst of this turmoil, I received incredible news: I was accepted for a scholarship to study at one of the top art schools in the world, the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City! This acceptance has brought hope not only to me but also to my family during these difficult times.

While the scholarship covers tuition, it doesn’t secure my housing. I need to raise $10,000 to cover my housing deposit and one semester’s housing fees. I’ve managed to secure half of the housing expenses, but this remaining amount has delayed my travel plans to the spring semester.

My sister, Sally, is helping me organizing this campaign to reach out for support. With my believe in the power of community and the importance of sharing our stories. Any donation, no matter how small, will help me continue my artistic journey and realize my dreams.

My goal is to not only hone my craft but also to give back to my community. I want to help others in my region share their stories and creative visions through media and art. Together, we can spread joy and hope through our creative expressions.
