Support Magus’ Dream of Becoming an Animator

Hello!

My name is María Agustina Downing, but everyone calls me Magus. I’m 17 years old and I am an incoming senior in high school. I’ve always had an extraordinary drive toward art, I’m the kid who doodles while the teacher explains things, drawing my favorite cartoon characters, and eventually creating my own on the backs of my notebooks.

When I found out that creating the drawings that I saw in the cartoons was something someone could do, I decided that I was going to pursue Animation. The tons of paper, and sketchbooks, I’ve used to illustrate all my ideas, helped me shape my identity as an artist.

With this strong passion, I applied to the Ringling College of Art and Design pre-college program focusing on Computer Animation: Visual Development for Animation and 2D Motion Graphics. This is a four week intensive program during the summer where I learn the fundamentals of animation and how to tell a story with my own characters.

It’s such an amazing opportunity for me to be able to have fun and connect with others, learn about other people's characters and be able to build off of each other's ideas, and improve my art skills. This program will help me reach my goal of becoming an animator one day.

I received my acceptance letter to the program in March and applied for financial aid. I anxiously waited for almost two months to see how much potential financial aid I was going to get. This past Monday, April 21st, I received the disappointing news that they were unable to offer financial assistance.

I’m unable to cover all the costs on my own so I am asking for your help.

It would mean the world to me if you could contribute to my dream of creating stories and then animating them for the whole world to see. Any amount that you’re able to donate would help me get further to the chance to attend this summer program.
