Helping animals avoid needless slaughter is essential to a healthy world. Animals have so much to teach us about kindness and acceptance, and we need your help to continue to be able to do that for people who visit our businesses. Just because animals can't be bred or milked or ridden doesn't mean they aren't useful.

We aspire to offer our community and visitors to the Berkshire's a unique experience where people, young and old, can come and eat healthy homemade food, hear live music by local and touring artists, visit these animals, and most of all relax and reflect a little,

Here at the Egremont Barn, we've been rescuing animals for the last few years: dogs, goats, pigs, and even some battered hens. As many of you may know, we have decided to expand the operation by adding equines and bovines this year! In the last few months, we've added Happy, the horse, Buckaroo, the mini-horse, and Waldo & Coburn, two young steer. Currently, we are evaluating some other resources that might fit in.

 

When people come to The Egremont Barn http://theegremontbarn.com , Sara's Place http://sarasplace.com  and/or The Egremont Village Inn http://theegremontvillageinn.com, it is a frequent occurrence that they wander over and meet the animals. Many parents bring their kids just for this purpose.

 

We find that having peaceful and amiable farm animals for people to relate to is good therapy and an asset to the community.

 

It, however, is not without some costs. We recently added a 40' 4 stall animal shelter and extensive fencing and are planning more. In addition, we'd like to fund a summer position for a young worker who would be able to help the public feed and meet the animals when they come to visit the Barn.
