Support Maggie Seifert's Film: While You Sleep

While You Sleep is a student short film directed by Maggie Seifert and written by Claire Laurey. It is an ambitious project, but we believe it can be a powerful film and story that has never been told before. We plan on submitting this film the UCSB's annual Reel Loud Film Festival which will give us a great platform to showcase this film! Please contribute if you can and we will very much appreciate it!

MEET THE DIRECTOR:

Hi!!! I'm Maggie, the director! I'm a 3rd year film and theater major from Indiana. In my free time, I love drawing, pilates, reading (psychological thrillers duh), and film photography. I can't wait to create this film alongside our incredibly talented crew and cast!

MEET THE WRITER:

Hi! My name is Claire Laurey and I'm the writer and co-producer of While You Sleep! I'm a third-year film major at UCSB and I moved from Minnesota to Los Angeles to pursue television writing. I'm so excited and grateful to be creating this psychological thriller with our amazing director and crew.

LOGLINE:

After a nearly fatal car crash, a demonic presence infiltrates corporate alcoholic Edward, manifesting itself as an alter ego. This alter ego takes over his consciousness and gives in to Edward’s darkest desires every time he falls asleep. To escape his nocturnal temptations, he must go to drastic lengths to stay awake.

CHARACTERS:

EDWARD

A tortured corporate man who abuses alcohol to avoid facing his demons—but they soon begin to find him whenever he falls asleep.

LILLY

Edward’s loving and forgiving wife, who becomes neglected as he begins to lose his grip and spirals out of control.

STARLA

The much younger fiancée of Edward’s work colleague, with whom he has an affair during one of his nightly escapades.

ATTRACTIVE MAN

One of Edward’s work colleagues whose subtle flirtations with Lilly cost him his life.
