EXCITING NEWS (GET READY FOR A LOT OF EXCLAMATION MARKS) -
I'm thrilled to share some exciting news with you! My one-person show, Lossed, has been selected to be a part of both the Indianapolis Fringe Festival and Cannonball Fest in Philadelphia in August and September of 2024! I'm passionate about this project, and I'd love your support to bring it to life.

Lossed is a collection of stand up, storytelling, video, and slideshow all about what can be gained through accepting the role that loss plays in our lives. It's funny, irreverent, heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time.

WHAT YOUR SUPPORT WILL MAKE HAPPEN -
By contributing to our fundraiser, you'll be supporting the production of Lossed, helping cover essential expenses such as paying the Lossed artistic team, production costs, and other necessary expenses like rehearsal, venue rental, printing, advertising, and event insurance.

Your generous support will not only help bring this powerful show to life but also spread the important message that discussing (and joking about) challenging topics like death and grief can enrich our lives.

WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT -
A bit about the background of Lossed -

After the death of my grandmother in 2017, I created work both throughout my grieving process and afterward into my journey of becoming a hospice volunteer and eventually a trained Death Midwife. I wanted to stare deeper into death and grief in order that I might begin to accept their places in my life.

In 2019 I teased out some of these ideas in my performance titled "Come Over" at Steppenwolf and was pleased to receive feedback from audiences that they were grateful for a space to laugh and cry over tough topics like death and aging. Then in 2020, like many (most?) people, I started experiencing losses right and left - relationships, loved ones, pets, dreams - and was left feeling more lost than ever.

I continued to write about these experiences and, in December of 2022, received funding from the City of Chicago's Department of Cultural and Special Events to perform a multi-media reading of "Lossed" at The Den Theater in Chicago. The show sold out both performances and I received audience feedback that the work was both funny and healing.

My father died unexpectedly in 2023, and I am continuing to enhance the show with all I have learned through grieving his death. I have found immense meaning in learning more about death and dying. Being able to openly speak about this facet of the human experience has made me more present and grateful for the time I get to be alive. Our culture has not equipped us to deal with all the grief and thanatophobia that comes along with living in a "post-pandemic" world.

The main goal of Lossed is to show people that you won’t suddenly die if you joke about death; in fact, it's been my experience that just the opposite happens- life suddenly feels much fuller and richer than ever before. I want to gift this knowledge and experience to everyone I come in contact with.
