Support Maggie Blackwell's Cancer Battle

On what began as a seemingly ordinary day, March 17, 2025, our world changed forever when my best friend Maggie Blackwell was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was heartbreaking, surreal, and life-altering.

If you know Maggie, you know she is a force. She shows up for the people she loves without hesitation. She gives generously, leads with kindness, and brings light into every room. Now she is taking on the fight of her life with the same strength, resilience, and grace that define her.

Maggie would never ask for help like this on her own. But recently, she shared her diagnosis publicly for the first time, opening up about what she is facing. That alone was a big step for someone so selfless.

The truth is, this has been one of the most difficult seasons of Maggie’s life. In the span of just a few months, she started a new job, was diagnosed with cancer, moved out of her beloved West Hollywood apartment for more affordable housing, and had her car’s transmission give out—leaving her stranded on La Cienega with a $2,500 repair bill. She has faced each challenge with quiet strength, but the toll has been enormous.

To continue seeing her trusted team of doctors at Cedars-Sinai, Maggie had to pay over $5,000 out of pocket, including $700 per month in COBRA premiums to bridge the gap between insurance plans — all before starting over with a new policy that carries an 80/20 structure and a $6,000 out-of-pocket maximum. In total, she is facing more than $11,000 just to maintain consistent care during treatment.

She also made the empowering choice to undergo DigniCap, a scalp cooling therapy that helps reduce hair loss during chemotherapy. While not covered by insurance, it provides a critical sense of control and normalcy during treatment. Each session costs $450, and the full course of treatment adds up quickly.

Maggie has tried to carry all of this on her own, never wanting to burden others. But no one should have to take on the emotional and financial weight of cancer alone.

So I am asking, from the bottom of my heart, if you are able, please consider donating. Every dollar will go directly toward Maggie’s medical care, DigniCap sessions, and essential living expenses as she navigates this journey.

If you would prefer to give in a more personal way, Maggie also has an Amazon Wishlist with items that bring her comfort, help manage side effects, and support her recovery at home. A gift from the list is just as meaningful and deeply appreciated.

And if you are not in a position to give right now, your support, love, and encouragement mean the world.

Thank you for showing up for her. Thank you for being part of this fight.
