Maeve's medical challenges & how you can help:
Sweet Maeve Menichini has had a difficult start to her 3 months of life, with four hospitalizations, airway and GI surgeries, and a feeding tube placement due to significant breathing and feeding challenges.
She has been diagnosed with Laryngomalacia (an airway obstruction), dysphagia, severe acid reflux/GERD, and failure to thrive. She has an NJ feeding tube and is 100% tube fed at this time.
Maeve’s family is working hard to help Maeve overcome her strong feeding aversion and feeding difficulties. She needs multiple types of frequent, ongoing therapies including feeding therapy, physical therapy, chiropractic care, and dietitian support. The Menichinis are also working with a feeding tube weaning specialist to safely support Maeve's attempted wean off her feeding tube, as she has a short window of time to develop and strengthen her oral feeding skills in order to avoid an additional surgery in December.
In the midst of all of this, Maeve’s father, Garrett, was laid off from his job. Additionally, many of Maeve’s therapies and interventions are not covered by insurance, and a few of her specialists do not accept insurance. The Menichinis’ financial burden is becoming increasingly overwhelming due to the added stress of job loss.
We are asking for donations to support the Menichini family with a hopeful fundraising goal deadline of November 30. This would allow them to maximize the small window of time Maeve has for intensive therapies and tube weaning as quickly as possible.
Your support will help cover the costs of Maeve’s medical treatments, therapies, and other essential resources for her recovery. Every donation brings Maeve one step closer to a healthier, brighter future as a thriving, growing oral eater. Thank you for being part of her journey!
