Support Madysen's Teaching Abroad in Thailand

Hello everyone!
I'm Madysen Picard, and I am thrilled to share that I will be studying abroad in Thailand from May to July 2025! Currently, I am a senior at the University of Maine in Presque Isle, working toward a degree in elementary education. Becoming a teacher has been a lifelong goal of mine, inspired by my mother, who has been an educator for over 20 years. My teaching journey began at a young age, helping her set up her pre-k and kindergarten classroom in the mornings before school. As I grew older, I embraced every opportunity to engage with children—babysitting, working at a recreation department, and volunteering at Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp. Today, I am even more involved in the field, gaining experience through internships, fieldwork, and substituting in local schools.
Recently, I was honored to be accepted to teach at a school in Thailand for two and a half months! This incredible opportunity will allow me to apply my teaching expertise while learning new methods to enhance my skills. Traveling has always been a dream of mine, and I am beyond excited to combine my passions for teaching and exploring the world during this journey.
In addition to being a full-time student, I work as a waitress and bartender at the Lakeview Restaurant. Although I am working hard to save for this experience, any support is greatly appreciated! Donations will help cover portions of my plane ticket, travel costs, meals, and potential cultural experiences and activities.
I look forward to sharing videos, pictures, and stories from my journey so you can experience this adventure with me. My goal is to use the knowledge and skills I gain to inspire local classrooms, support students, and strengthen our community. Thank you for your interest in and support of my educational goals. I hope you’ll follow along as I embark on this exciting chapter!
