Hi, my name is Semaj, and I never thought I’d find myself here — writing a story like this and asking for help. But life has a way of surprising us in the most unexpected ways. Recently, my wife, Madisyn, was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare condition in which the immune system attacks the peripheral nerves. It causes weakness, numbness, and paralysis in her legs, which can ascend throughout the body. The very next day, she was also diagnosed with Graves’ disease and Hashimoto’s disease. Between the treatments, prescriptions, appointments, and just trying to stay afloat, the costs are adding up far beyond what we can manage alone. That’s why I started this GoFundMe.
