Support Madison's Recovery After Accident

On Monday, April 20th, Madison was involved in a single car accident that changed everything. She lost control of her jeep and went off the road into a patch of trees. Kadence, a close friend, got an alert on Life360 and immediately began calling her. A car that was in front of Madison saw her leave the road and turned around to help. Eventually, a man answered Madison’s phone and let Kadence know she had been in a bad accident and was trapped and unconscious. Kadence immediately called us to let us know. Madison was trapped for 45 minutes before being airlifted to Erlanger. She sustained nine pelvic fractures, four facial fractures, and a brain bleed. So far, she has had a bolt placed and removed to monitor the pressure on her brain, her pelvic fractures fixed with two plates and eleven screws, six blood transfusions, two blood product IVs, a tracheostomy, and a peg tube placed for feedings. She made it through day three, which is the day of peak swelling of the brain. Until April 24th, she was on a ventilator, with it breathing for her. She was switched to the C-pap vent and has been breathing on her own. The doctors have started to give her other pain medication to wean her off the fentanyl used for pain and sedation. We have seen glimpses of Madison’s personality throughout the last few days, even though she is not awake. She still isn’t following commands but is responding to painful stimuli. We are hopeful that once the sedation has been stopped completely, she will wake up and follow commands. The next hurdles are surgery to fix her facial fractures and day seven after the brain trauma. Between now and Monday, we are watching for seizures, and the doctors have her on anti-seizure medication to help prevent any. The funds raised will help cover medical bills, rehabilitation, and other needs for Madison and her family as they navigate her recovery. These are great people my dad has known for a long time. They always help others out in need, even if it’s just small things. Now it’s their turn to be in need after such a horrific accident. Their daughter Madison is a great person and we’re just so grateful she’s alive despite the seriousness of the situation. Any support you can give means the world to us.
